Chapter 6:
In my opinion after reading chapter 6, I would prefer to teach in a classroom that had more digital technologies. There are lots of different types of digital technologies that can be incorporated in classrooms such as scanners, digital cameras,graphic tablets, microphones, touch screens, electronic whiteboards,e-books, handhelds/smart-phones/mini laptops, voice activated devices,etc. These technological devices can make it easier for the teachers to teach their lessons and make it more fun and easier for the students to be engaged. For example, teachers could use the graphic tablet to create complex images, emphasize points, and so forth. The touch screens in the classrooms could be used by prereaders or as a device to help a student with special needs.The electronic whiteboards can be beneficial also because they can convert whiteboard images and text into computer files so you can review them again at a later date. Technology has so many devices to offer to the public especially when working in a classroom.
Chapter 11:
There are several different types of traditional and emerging audio technologies. A traditional type of audio technology would be a tape recorder/record player. Tape recorders could be used in the classroom for a few reasons. One reason a tape recorder could be used for is teachers could record students as they read and then play it back to them so they can hear themselves read so they know what words they cant pronounce right so they can practice saying those words. An emerging type of audio technology could be a cd player/mp3 player/ipod/dvd player/internet audio. For example the iPod could be used to download educational apps onto it such as letter and number recognition, talking apps, electronic flash cards and this would make the iPod a great study tool.
There are also several different types of traditional and emerging visual technologies. A traditional type of visual technology would be books. Books can be great to keep the students educated and help explain the class discussion more in depth so it makes it easier for the students to understand. An emerging type of visual technology would be computer display/DVD player/computer CD-ROM/Internet video. DVD players are a good thing to have in classrooms as well because you can play educational videos in them to the class. Sometimes videos being played in class makes the students want to be more engaged so that could also help keep their grades up if they're actually enjoying the lessons that are being taught.
